God has always been present in my life. However, cheer has always been a huge part of my life, and I used it as my main source of happiness, yet I faced seasons where mental blocks felt overwhelming and I truly felt empty inside. I was always believing that I could do cheer on my own instead of putting God above it. There were times I questioned if I could ever move past those thoughts and emotions of never feeling good enough, and I carried so much pressure on my own shoulders. Through 12:2 Training, I’ve learned that those struggles weren’t meant to break me; they were meant to remind me to lean fully on the Lord. God called me to be a cheerleader, not just for the sport itself, but to glorify Him through it. When I put Him first in my training, the weight of fear and doubt becomes lighter, because I know I’m not doing this for myself anymore.
Joe Burton really helped me realize that God has a plan even in my mental blocks. Joe helped me see what God has for me, and instead, he helped me understand that having God in the center of my life and through training was exactly what I was missing. Instead of viewing them as walls I can’t overcome, I now see them as opportunities to trust God more deeply. My role as an athlete is bigger than stunts and routines. I am a vessel for Christ in everything I do. Whether I hit the skill perfectly or stumble along the way, my purpose remains the same: to shine His light and use cheer as a way to honor Him. That truth has completely changed the way I train, perform, and even how I see myself. Cheer has taught me a lot about strength, perseverance, and discipline, but it has also tested my mind in ways I didn’t expect. Mental blocks used to feel like impossible walls I couldn’t get past, and they left me frustrated and discouraged. Through 12:2 Training, I learned that I was never meant to carry those battles alone. God called me to be a cheerleader, and when I finally committed my training to Him, everything started to change. Proverbs 16:3 says, “Commit to the Lord in all you do, and He will establish your plans.” That verse has become my reminder that every stunt, every routine, and even every struggle can be surrendered to Him.
From surrendering myself fully to Christ, I understand that God guides me through everything I do. I do not fear for the future, for God has a plan bigger than I could ever imagine.
Thank you 12:2 training and Joe Burton for showing me that I am not alone and God will forever guide me through this journey.
